Personal Digital Archiving

As family historians we collect things. We collect certificates, photographs, documents, diaries, video recordings, artefacts, and even memories. We use these things to create our histories, our stories which we may then also produce as charts, documents or books. How do we record all of this stuff? What do we do with it and how do we make it available to others and how do we pass it on in a useful way?
