Liverpool’s ‘Home Children’

Using examples from the Liverpool Home for Destitute Children, the workshop will discuss the records that shed light on children who were sent to Canada in the late-nineteenth century. It will trace students from birth to death and debate the effectiveness of the ‘Home Children’ programme. The session will look at some case studies of boys who later joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force and died in WWI.
